What a joy it has been to see 269 Glenorchy Primary School students connect with their new teachers, staff and classmates.

Things that have filled the my bucket of happiness have been - 

• developing the GPS playlist on Spotify with tunes from Hamilton to Bruno Mars and Lady GaGa - (Michelle does keep sneaking in her Taylor Swift and Kylie Minogue tunes!)
• dancing and singing with our students
• looking out my window and seeing the prep-1 classes excitedly walking to their first ever library session
• watching our prep teachers bravely teach their first lessons of UFLI
• receiving flowers and smiles from our 24 Carrot garden from our grateful students
• hearing the enthusiasm of our new H&PE teacher Mr Gordon and the daily PE leaders
• welcoming new families to our school and getting to know our existing families
• working with the best staff in the world!

Thank you for working with us when things are going well and when we need to problem solve together. I am keen to continue our community connection and if you are interested in helping me keep Glenorchy Primary School a fabulous place to learn and grow we would love to get a new school association running soon. We will provide more details in our next newsletter but please call into the office if you are interested.

You will have received your yellow validation forms last week. The validation form contains the information we have on file for your child.

It is vital for the school office to have updated details for all students. In the event of a medical issue or emergency event this information is crucial in the care and response that we provide for your child/children. Please ensure to update information with the office staff as required: emergency contact details, phone numbers, address details and any changes to your child's medical needs eg. asthma, anaphylaxis. If your child does suffer from conditions such as asthma, epilepsy etc., please also provide up-to-date Medical Action Plans as provided by your medical practitioner.

Every day at school is so important. Missing just ten minutes a day may have an impact on children's learning. The start of the day is when instructions are given and daily planning happens. Children may struggle to catch up or stay focused if they have missed that instructional time.

While we realise that absences or being late is sometimes unavoidable was ask that you please contact the office by phone - 6272 7574 - or on the app to report any absences or late arrivals. This will ensure that our attendance data relating to your child is accurate.

It is only our first week back at school and already we have been producing some great work. We have been getting to know our classroom space, our routines and best all getting to know each other. What better way to introduce ourselves than to draw and share a portrait of ourselves?!
