We have had a busy week with the first week of NAPLAN testing nearly over. Just one more test to go and our children have been working hard, are focused and trying to do their best.
We had a great day at our school cross country with everyone participating enthusiastically. It was great to see children who were committed to doing their best, perservering and completing the course even when they were not in the lead. It is pleasing to see that our children are willing to give their best no matter the challenge. I would also like to thank the parents who encouraged their children by praising their efforts not where they came in the race. Helping our children to develop the confidence to 'have a go' regardless of ability is a wonderful life skill to give your child. Remember to always praise the effort - not everyone can win the race but everyone can feel proud of their individual effort, and your acknowledment of that will make them shine.
Just a reminder to parents as the days, particularly the mornings, are getting really cool all children should be coming to school with their school jumpers. We are seeing some shivering children around the grounds.
Kind regards
Susan Miles (Acting Principal)
Last week, with Mother's Day just around the corner, our LiL children had the opportunity to celebrate the special people in their life by making some yummy biscuits to take home and share. Children took their job of rolling and cutting the biscuits very seriously!
Our school Cross Country was held Monday and thankfully the rain held off until the last students crossed the finish line - a few of us got a little sprinkle though! Students took to the run with enthusiasm and made their way around the course which took them on a tour of our school grounds. There were great examples of sportsmanship as students encouraged each other on, with everyone striving to do their best. All participants earned points for their school house - stay tuned for the announcement of the winning House!!
Student Representative Council
Congratulations to our newly elected SRC!
Levies
Our levies, unchanged since 2014, are $150 for Kindergarten, $200 for Prep-Grade 4 and $220 for Grade 5-6.
Levies are used within the school to cover essential items (stationery, reading and text books, art and music materials, cooking ingredients etc.) for the core curriculum areas. They also cover expenses for excursions and activities.
Levies can be paid at the school office or at Service Tas with cash or credit card, or by BPay.
Levies are now overdue, please pay the overdue amounts as soon as possible. If there are issues for your family, call into the school office to discuss these (payment plans can be arranged), or you may be entitled to benefit from the Student Assistance Scheme. Our friendly office staff can help you with this.
Attendance
Parents/carers are reminded to advise the office if their child is unable to attend school due to illness or any other reason.
You can do this by calling 6272 7574 or by clicking on the absentee tab on the Schoolzine App.
Lost Property
Their has been a large amount of lost property making its way to the office. Some have names and are able to be returned. Many do not have names. Now that the weather is getting colder we have many children coming to the office to borrow a jumper. Please make sure your child has their named school jumper.
Parking
Once again we are asking our parents to consider the safety of all our students. The Kensington St Car Park is for staff only. The car park is too small to cope with the busy pick up and drop off times. Please use the church car park opposite and walk over the crossing. Alternatively there is ample parking off Hull St and it is much safer to drive through to drop off or pick up your child.
